What's your favorite state park? Share!

Apparently this survey has been floating around for awhile, but the Washington State Parks Foundation wants to know what your favorite state park is. They've been asking this question for about a year and 103 state parks have been mentioned - out of 116 state parks.

They say the most popular are Deception Pass, Fort Flagler, Grayland Beach and Cape Disappointment. None of those are Eastern Washington parks!

Bullets and Ink: A Man's Spin On Life

Bullets and Ink: A Man's Spin On Life

Doyle Wheeler approaches life just like he does pens; everything is possible. Throw anything his way and he will make it work for him.

The first lathe Wheeler ever received was from his father. He tinkered with it off and on, not really committing to the craft but enjoying the rhythm of turning a pen. The first ones he ever made became Christmas gifts for family and friends but he insists they weren't any good.

It's what every budding artist – excuse me, craftsman – would say of their early work.

Craftsmanship is in Wheeler's blood. His grandparents built their home in Spokane from the ground up.

Second Harvest Shopping Spree

Second Harvest Shopping Spree

Ready, set, shop!!!

Mark Peterson faced off against KXLY viewer Justin Holderby in a 3 minute shopping spree at Yoke's Fresh Market today. Justin won a KXLY contest and got the chance to fill his cart with groceries to take home. Mark filled his cart with food to donate to the Second Harvest Food Bank.

Thanks to Mark's quick feet (and his Second Harvest helper), the food bank collected $1178.05 in groceries. Our favorite morning weatherman loaded up on cheese sticks, peanut butter, fruit cups and more.

Justin loaded up his cart with his favorites - beef jerky and coffee - and walked away with $556.27 in groceries. He also won a freezer from Fred's Appliance.

Law enforcement gearing up for multi-state DUI emphasis

Law enforcement gearing up for multi-state DUI emphasis

A multi-state and agency effort aims to reduce drunk drivers on roads this holiday season.

Law enforcement organizations in Washington and Idaho are teaming up to increase their patrols starting December 17th to January 3rd.

In the above staged photo, multiple law enforcement agencies came together to pose for the camera. It was taken Wednesday evening for their 2011 DUI photo shoot overlooking the LC Valley - just above those rolling hills.

Front and center is an Asotin Police patrol vehicle. The photo features a mixture of state, county and city agencies. Can you spot your community’s law enforcement patrol vehicle?

Alert citizens spot suspicious activity - tips lead to arrest

Alert citizens are to thank for the arrest of two men on felony charges of Burglary and Theft on Tuesday afternoon.

A UPS driver and Valleyford neighbor noticed two men acting suspicious in the 12500 block of South Madison Rd on Monday. The men drove off in a tan minivan after they realized they were being watched. The neighbor checked his garage and found items missing.

The same vehicle was spotted later that day in the 12300 block of East Dishman Mica Rd. A second victim says their surveillance camera was stolen from their fence around the same time.

The mini van’s license plate was relayed to Crime Check after both incidents and they matched.
