Spokane County Cuts Engineering Jobs

Yesterday Spokane County announced the layoffs of 13 engineering technicians, effective Oct 17th. The layoffs tie into the completion of the septic tank replacement project in Spokane Valley.

The Spokane County Engineering and Roads Department Tuesday laid off 13 engineering technicians for lack of work.

For people interested in keeping up with the 2012 city budget, a preliminary version will be filed on Sept 6th at the end of the work day, and copies will be available to the public.

Notice is hereby given that it is anticipated that the Spokane Valley City Manager will have the 2012 Preliminary Budget available by the end of the work day (5:00 p.m.) September 6, 2011, and by that date and time, will have filed such budget with the City Clerk and with the elected body.

Crime check is hoping you'll be able to identify the thief pictured above on August 8th around 6:30 p.m. A victim in the 11400 block of East Railroad Ave. captured images of the suspect on his personal security video system. The suspect entered the resident's unlocked 2002 Dodge Dakota and stole an MP3 player from inside.

He's described as a white male, about 25 to 35-years-old with crew-length brown hair. At the time of the theft, he was wearing a reddish t-shirt, shorts and dark shoes.

Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers will host her annual public town hall in Spokane on Wednesday, August 31. If you'd like to express your opinions about jobs, government spending, health care, energy, and national security then you may want to attend the meeting. The City of Spokane Valley's Bike and Pedestrian Master Program hit a bump in the road a few weeks ago when it was eyed critically by the city council after the Planning Commission voted to recommend that the council approve it.

Spokane Valley Woman Injured in Weekend Accident

An evening crash on Highway 95 resulted in 3 people being injured and the highway shutting down for an hour after one of the vehicles involved burst into flames.

The Idaho State Patrol reported late yesterday that Spokane Valley resident Chelsey M. Bucko, 24, was injured in an accident at 9 p.m. at Highway 95 and Rockford Bay Road. She was driving west on Rockford Bay and another driver was going north on Highway 95. An ISP press release reported that Bucko pulled out in front of the other woman, causing the two cars to crash.
