Spill Gates Closed, River Open For Fun

Good news for boaters who like to spend their summers on the Spokane River near Post Falls... there's now more space to play!

Avista announced today the spill gates at the Post Falls Dam are now closed, which means river recreation is now open upstream from the dam. Until those gates are closed, the river is shut down between the Spokane Street Bridge and the Post Falls Dam.

Oil Can Henry's “Make a Change for the Cure” fundraiser kicked off Saturday at their various Spokane locations. Their team will be wearing pink hats and bowties to support the mission to fight breast cancer.

The business is pledging to raise $75,000, all of which will go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation.

New Spokane Valley Traffic Info Line

The City of Spokane Valley has launched its new Traffic Info Line. The 24/7 information line will provide community members with recorded weekly Traffic Alerts and information on traffic impacts.

The telephone number for the Traffic Info Line is 720-5311, the same number used to provide snow plowing updates during the winter season.

Discovery Park Hit by Vandals, Again!

Thieves have struck again at a popular park in the Spokane Valley. On Wednesday, someone stole a five foot high yellow fiberglass worm inchworm and damaged another.

"I am extremely disappointed to see such a lack of respect by those few who demonstrate disregard for public property designed to be enjoyed by all of our citizens," said Spokane Valley Parks & Recreation Director Mike Stone.
