Girl Scout Cookie Pre-Orders Start Today

It’s not quite the season for finding Girl Scout cookies at the grocery store, but you can still pre-order them. You just won’t get them until after March 23rd, but if you order them now, there’s a chance you’ll forget about it so when they arrive, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

To pre-order, you have to call the Girl Scouts and they’ll set you up with a local troop to order from. The phone number is 1 (800) 827-9478.

Their on-location sales start on March 23rd until April 15th.

Boeing 787 Brands the Sky

Boeing 787 Brands the Sky

Boeing has been making its mark over the United States by flying a peculiar flight path. During a 787 test flight on Thursday evening, they were able to form the plane's number and Boeing's logo all the way from Washington to Iowa.

The upper right tip of the numeral seven is Spokane.

Flight Blogger, Jon Ostrower, noticed the flight pattern while in Houston.

I'm sitting at gate C34 at Houston Intercontinental Airport waiting for my flight to DCA and was tipped to 787 ZA236's flight plan (BOE236) for its systems functionality and reliability tests today. The aircraft is in the last stages of flying certification flights for the 787 airframe pairing with the General Electric GEnx-1B engine. Today's flight path, like the creative skywriting we've seen before from the 747-8, traces 787 and The Boeing Company logo from Washington State to Iowa.

Weight Restrictions Begin Monday On Some County Roads

Seasonal weight restrictions are being placed on some Spokane County roads starting next Monday. The restrictions limit the size and weight of vehicles that can travel on those specific roads.

The restrictions are being put into place to reduce roadway damage and infrastructure before the spring.

The Sheriff's Office says they're going to allow a two-day education period to the public before they begin enforcing the new regulations on Wednesday, February 15th. After that, all violations become a $411 fine.

Kathleen Flenniken is Washington's Newest Poet Laureate

What's a Poet Laureate? They're poets appointed by the government to write for state occasions. We have one nationally, recently appointed Philip Levine. The New York Times highlighted him last August describing him as the "voice of the workingman".

Locally in the state of Washington, we now have Kathleen Flenniken. Humanities Washington announced today she's the newly appointed Poet Laureate by Governor Chris Gregoire and the Washington State Arts Commission

This is the first Poet Laureate we've had since 2009. Samuel Green held the previous two-year position, but it was eliminated in 2009 due to a budget shortfall. During that time, the position carried a stipend of $10,000 according to The Library of Congress.

Heart Attack Or Panic Attack?

How do you know whether you're having a heart attack or a panic attack? The symptoms are very similar. Since everyone is different, you may have different symptoms than I would. It can be very confusing.

Dr. Michael Kelley of Inland Cardiology Associates will discuss the difference between a heart attack, panic or anxiety attacks and when to seek treatment.

It's coming up February 23rd from 5 to 7pm at Nectar Tasting Room at 120 N. Stevens. The Deaconess Chest Pain Center staff will be there, providing blood pressure screenings and information regarding risk assessment for heart disease. Seating is limited, so, make sure to register by clicking here.

(By the way, refreshments will be provided!)
