Dirt bike ride leads driver to Spokane Valley Police

Remember that time when we went on a ride-along with Spokane Valley Police and we took the driver of a dirt bike to Spokane County Jail? Here's the tweets from the evening, scroll down to read that incident. We also just received the full release of information from Spokane Valley Police that goes into more detail of what we saw on Thursday evening.

Just before midnight, Deputy Juan Rodriguez was driving northbound on Pines when he saw a dirt bike with two occupants driving on the sidewalk going the wrong direction. It did not have any lights on and the driver was not wearing a helmet. Strangely enough, the passenger was.

Dep. Rodriguez turned on his lights and sirens and followed the driver who was accelerating to avoid confrontation. Dep. Rodriguez spoke into the patrol vehicle’s loudspeaker saying, “Stop before you get into a wreck.”

The driver of the dirt bike reached a cul de sac at Main and Clinton where the driver turned around and drove past the patrol vehicle. The dirt bike began to malfunction and slow to a stop. That’s when Rodriguez leaped out and shouted: “Get down to the ground”.

Damien Plumley, 22, was arrested and his passenger was detained for a short time. Plumley told Dep. Rodriguez: “I’m stupid, Rodriguez, I should have never tried that.”

Plumley was booked into Spokane County Jail for the following charges:

  • Reckless Driving
  • Reckless Endangerment
  • Failure to Stop and Provide Information
  • 3rd Degree Driving with a Suspended License

Plumley also received the following infractions:

  • No Motorcycle Endorsement
  • Operating a Motorcycle Without a Helmet
  • Off Road Vehicle Driven on Roadway
