Hitch A Ride To Valleyfest

Hitch A Ride To Valleyfest

The build-up to Valleyfest is already well underway, with events planned all week in anticpation of Saturday's main event at Mirabeau Park.  Anyone who's been to Valleyfest knows the only downside to the event is getting there.  If you're not an early bird on Saturday morning, you'll probably end up parking several hundred yards away and hoofing it down Mirabeau Parkway.  Not a big deal, unless you're herding a gaggle of kids, as many people are.

First time pie submission wins a blue ribbon at the fair

First time pie submission wins a blue ribbon at the fair

A long time tradition of county and interstate fairs has been the food competitions. One section includes baked goods of all sorts including pies.

Spokane Valley resident, Janice Suttner had been attending the fair for years and has been making pies for just as long, but never had she submitted a pie to the fair's competition. This year, was the year.

"I've always enjoyed them when I go the fair. I thought, I'll do it this year," Suttner said.

And then her blueberry pie won a blue ribbon.

The Most Important Meal of the Day

The Most Important Meal of the Day

I never liked eating breakfast, but I ate it. Probably because I had a good mother. Everyday she'd deliver the line every good mother delivers to her young 'It's the most important meal of the day' and then she'd make me 'eat something' so I'd be ready to learn.

I know now how lucky I was. Not only because I had a good mom who made me eat, but because I came from a home where there was healthy, nutritious food. Such is not always the case.

And now, Spokane Public Schools is picking up where the mother or home can't.

"Rolling Video Games" Trailer = Awesome!

It's official, I wish I could be 13 years old forever. Today I had the opportunity to dilly dally around in a "Rolling Video Games" trailer. When they first showed up Robyn Nance insisted I come and check it out (it was a setting place for a Wednesday Child shoot). At first i was hesitant for some reason, it took two invites to get me out there and let me tell you I'm glad I did!
