Free admission to the MAC this Saturday

Free admission to the MAC this Saturday

So, you've always wanted to visit Spokane's Museum of Arts and Culture ("the MAC"), but just haven't gotten around to it.  Maybe you don't make it over to Browne's Addition often, or maybe the admission price is a little steep for you right now ($7 for adults, $5 for seniors and kids.)

Well now, you have one less excuse.  The MAC is taking part in the Smithsonian's National Museum Day this Saturday, Sep. 29th.  Admission is free, and there are incredible exhibits for grown-ups and children alike.

In order to get into the MAC for free, you must print out a ticket from Smithsonian.com.  Take a few minutes to do so, and enjoy a fun, educational, free outing this Saturday.

Help out foster kids at tonight's Indians' game

This evening's forecast calls for sunny skies and warm temperatures, perfect weather for tonight's Spokane Indians game against the Tri-City Dust Devils.  Better yet, you also have the opportunity to help out a great cause.

Tonight, Otto the mascot will be accepting clothing donations at the main gate for local foster children.  Just bring a new clothing item (any and all children's sizes are needed) and you'll be entered to win a skybox party for you and 9 friends.

It's all part of Sleep Country Foster Kids Night.  Sleep Country has donated 80 tickets to local foster children for tonight's game, so it will be a very special evening for dozens of local families.  You can help make it even better by bringing a clothing donation!

Remembering where we came from

“With the Fourth of July, we’re celebrating our independence as a nation. It’s the folks that fought back in the Revolutionary War for our country. That is where it all started for us as Americans and our freedom. We have Memorial Day and that’s when we tend to remember our troops that have fallen in conflicts or war, but it all started with the Fourth of July for us,” Sgt. Jason Parker said.

Senior Master Sgt. Parker is the Operations Superintendent for the Security Forces Squadron at Fairchild Air Force Base.

“That freedom was born on the backs of hard working men and women and the blood of those men fighting for this country. And that will continue,” said Sgt. Parker.

And it will continue with Sgt. Parker. He is in charge of security and all law enforcement on the base. When he is deployed his basic mission is ground defense for air bases worldwide.

Aside from protecting our men and women in the armed services, Sgt. Parker has another job. He is a husband and a father. Parker and his wife, Trisha, have been married for 18 years now. To Trisha, sometimes it feels like 100 years and at other times it goes by in a flash.
