Walmart on Sprague Avenue opens Wednesday | News

The new Walmart in Spokane Valley will open Wednesday morning.

The store is located on the 5500 block of East Sprague Avenue, and it will be open 24 hours a day.

The grand opening ceremony of the new store will be held at 7:30 a.m. and the public is welcome to attend. It will be open to the public immediately after the ceremony.

As part of the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation will present grants to local groups that serve the Spokane area. According to Walmart, this year's recipients are Meals on Wheels, Spokane Valley Partners, Orchard Elementary, Hearth Homes, The Scraps Hope Foundation and Toys for Tots.

According to a Walmart representative, the new store is adding 350 jobs to the Spokane area.

This will be one of three Walmarts opening in Washington Wednesday. Walmart said the other stores are located in Bellevue and Lynnwood.
